Popular Telephone Banking Transactions

Alabama Telco’s free telephone account information service is designed to work with each member’s unique account relationship. It is not possible to list a “how to” guide that fits every situation. However, the following are some of the most frequently used telephone banking transactions and the quickest ways to navigate through them.

Please note examples listed are based on the touch-tone/keypad commands. If you opt for voice recognition, the system will tell you what to say to access the appropriate information.

Example 1: To Hear Your Account Balance

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 1 for Account Balance (you don’t have to wait for the system to stop talking).
  • Select your account type.
  • If your account type has multiple accounts under it, the system will ask you to press 1 to enter the ID (if you know it) of the desired account or press 2 to hear a list of your accounts. For example, if you select “share accounts”, and you have a Savings, Christmas Club and U Name It, it will give you the option to select the one you want.
  • Hang up to end your call.

Example 2: To Hear Cleared Checks on Your Checking Account

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 2 for Account History (you don’t have to wait for the system to stop talking).
  • Select the account type “Checking” by pressing the appropriate command.
  • For the “select a search” option, press 4 for Check Number.
  • Press 1 to filter your search by specific check number or press 2 for a check range.

Example 3: To Transfer Money from Savings Account to Checking Account

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 3 for Funds Transfers Activities (you don’t have to wait for the system to stop talking).
  • Press 1 to transfer funds immediately.
  • Press 1 to transfer funds from your savings (share) account. If you have multiple savings accounts, the system will ask you to press 1 to enter the ID (if you know it) of the desired account or press 2 to hear a list of your accounts. When you hear the account you would like to transfer money from, press the pound (#) key.
  • Press 2 to transfer funds to your checking account.
  • Key in amount using the star (*) key as the decimal point.
  • Press 1 to confirm transaction, OR
  • Press 2 to cancel transaction (if you make a mistake when entering the dollar amount).
  • Once your transfer is set up, you will get a confirmation number.

Example 4: To Schedule a Recurring Funds Transfer

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 3 for Funds Transfers Activities (you don’t have to wait for the system to stop talking).
  • Press 2 to schedule a funds transfer.
  • Select the account you’d like to transfer funds from by pressing the appropriate command. Example: Press 1 to transfer funds from your savings (share) account. If you have multiple savings accounts, the system will ask you to press 1 to enter the ID (if you know it) of the desired account or press 2 to hear a list of your accounts. When you hear the account you would like to transfer money from, press the # (pound) key.
  • Select how often you want to transfer funds.
    • Press 1 for a one-time transaction.
    • Press 2 for monthly.
    • Press 3 for once every 2 weeks.
    • Press 4 for twice a month.
    • Press 5 for once every week.
  • Enter the two-digit month, two-digit date and four-digit year for the day you would like your transfer to start. Example: 01012015.
  • Press the appropriate command to select the account you would like to transfer the funds to. Example: Press 2 if you would like for the funds to go to your checking account.
  • Key in amount using the star (*) key as the decimal point.
  • Press 1 to confirm transaction, OR
  • Press 2 to cancel transaction (if you make a mistake when entering the dollar amount).
  • Once your transfer is set up, you will get a confirmation number.

Example 5: To Cancel a Scheduled Transfer

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 3 for Funds Transfers Activities (you don’t have to wait for the system to stop talking).
  • Press 5 to cancel an existing transfer.
  • Listen to your scheduled transfer(s). If you have multiple transfers set up, you will need to select which one you want to cancel.
  • Press the appropriate commands to cancel the transfer.
  • Press 1 to confirm cancellation, OR
  • Press 2 to deny cancellation.
  • Once your cancellation is complete, you will get a confirmation number.

Example 6: To Stop a Payment

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 5 for Account Management.
  • Press 1 for Stop Payment Activities.
  • Press 1 to stop a payment. Press 2 for stop payment inquiry.
  • To stop a payment, you will need to enter the last four digits of your social security number or tax I.D. number.
  • Note: There is a $25 fee for each stop payment. To continue your request, press 1 to accept this fee. (Otherwise, press 2.)
  • Press 1 for a specific check number. Press 2 for a check range.
  • Press 1 to complete the transaction. Press 2 to cancel it.
  • Once the request is successfully submitted, you will get a confirmation number.

Example 7: To Manage Your Visa Credit Card

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press the option for credit card.
  • From there, you will be able to hear your current balance, the next payment amount, the next payment due date, the last payment amount and the last payment date.

Example 8: To Make a Payment to your Visa Credit Card

  • Dial 205.985.0550 or 1.800.874.1394.
  • Enter member number (your account number).
  • Enter your Access Code.
  • Press 3 for Funds Transfer.
  • Press 3 to make a payment to your Visa card.
